Shozo Michikawa was born in Hokkaido, the most northern area of Japan, in 1953. After graduated Aoyama Gakuin University in 1975, he settled his base of ceramics activity to Seto, Aichi. His exhibitions are held widely in Japan and foreign countries like Phillipines, Mongolia, France, USA, and UK.
Aysha Peltz is a Vermont-based studio potter and educator.
She received both her BFA (Cum Laude) and MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. She is an active educator and has held a faculty appointment at Bennington College since 2006. In addition, she has taught classes and workshops at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Alfred University, Peter’s Valley School of Craft, The Walter Gropius Master Workshop Series, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Harvard University, and the Kansas City Art Institute. She has also lectured at the Shelburne Craft School in Vermont, The Huntingdon Museum of Art in West Virginia, and at the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute in Jingdezhen, China.
Aysha has exhibited consistently for over 20 years in a variety of venues across the country including the Clay Studio in Philadelphia; Pottery Northwest in Seattle, Washington; The Art School at Old Church in Demarest, New Jersey; Worcester Center for Crafts in Worcester, Massachusetts; and Penland Gallery in Penland North Carolina.
Her work is in notable collections including the American Museum of Ceramic Art, The Schein-Joseph International Museum of Ceramic Art, Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, and the Huntington Museum of Art, where she received the Walter Gropius Master Award. Aysha has also been awarded an Emerging Artist Award at the National Council for the Education of the Ceramic Arts.
Aysha owns Town Hill Pottery and the New England Hardboard Company with her husband and fellow potter, Todd Wahlstrom.
Born in Rochester, NY, Peter Pincus is a ceramic artist and instructor. He joined the School for American Crafts as Visiting Assistant Professor in Ceramics in Fall 2014. Peter received his BFA (2005) and MFA (2011) in ceramics from Alfred University, and in between was a resident artist at the Mendocino Art Center in Mendocino, California. Since graduate school, Peter worked as the Studio Manager and Resident Artist Coordinator of the Genesee Center for Arts and Education in Rochester, NY, Adjunct Professor of three-dimensional studies at Roberts Wesleyan College and has established a studio in Penfield NY.
Peter works in colored porcelain to create three-dimensional paintings out of pots. His work has been exhibited in venues such as the Museum of Contemporary Craft, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, Icheon World Ceramics Center, AKAR Gallery, TRAX Gallery, Plinth Gallery, the Art of the Pot studio tour, the American Pottery Festival, Greenwich House Pottery and National Council on Education for the Ceramic Art. A recipient of the NICHE award for slip cast ceramics, Peter’s work can be found in numerous private and public collections. In 2012, Ceramics Monthly featured Peter’s work on the cover and in the article “Painting Pots from the Inside.”
