About the Gallery
B.Y5 Gallery was established and operates as the home of the CAAI (Craft & Art Association in Israel), through the leadership of the association’s director, Adi Shabtai Pappo, and chief curator Nir Harmat. Since its opening in 2017, the gallery has served as the association’s primary hub and has been managed by the two since its inception. Alongside their leadership, the gallery’s artistic direction was previously guided by chief curators Merav Rahat (2020–2023) and Dr. Tal Frankel Alroy (2023–2024). Today, Nir Harmat has resumed his position as chief curator.
Located in South Tel Aviv near Kiryat HaMelacha, the gallery is situated within a vibrant ecosystem of artists, traditional craftsmen, and industrial workshops. This unique location allows the gallery to function as a natural meeting point for diverse creators and audiences alike.
Inspired by the craftsmanship of its surroundings, B.Y5 Gallery provides a platform and a home for material discourse. It hosts creators from the fields of fine art, craft, and design, offering a space for experimentation and the discussion of materiality in both traditional and contemporary contexts. The gallery features solo and group exhibitions, annual showcases of CAAI members, and various cultural events designed to foster an open and inclusive dialogue.
