The CAAI was founded in 1974 as a non-profit organization. Throughout the years, it has evolved to incorporate the Association of Ceramic Artists alongside creators from a wide range of disciplines. The Association works to promote and expand the dialogue between the fields of arts and crafts and creators in the spheres of design-art-craft for the general public.
\nCurrent members include hundreds of artists from diverse creative and material fields, including ceramics, textiles, jewelry, paper, glass, metal, wood, and more. These artists continue to lead and develop material culture in Israel, both through their personal work and through teaching and training future generations in academic institutions and informal settings.
\nThe Association is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sport and the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, and also funds its activities through annual membership fees.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    A journal of material culture published twice a year since 2001 by the Association of Professional Artists in Israel. The journal focuses on pottery, ceramic design, and material culture, providing documentation of developments in the field of ceramics both in Israel and abroad. Each issue features an academic article exploring the Israeli ceramic field, alongside articles and interviews with both emerging and established artists, reports on international collaborations, exhibition reviews, and publications regarding technological developments in material practices.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    Sigal Zuz | Involved in diverse projects across the fields of art and craft, and a collector of Israeli and international art. For 14 years, she served as the Deputy Head of the Kfar Shmaryahu Local Council, during which she also headed the council’s Cultural Department. In recent years, she has been involved in several art and design initiatives (including FIREFLIES and WALKTALK) and serves on the Board of the Friends of the Herzliya Museum <\/span><\/p>\n

    Executive Director<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    Adi Shabtai Pappo | Executive Director of the Association of Professional Artists in Israel since 2017. A graduate of the Department of Photography at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. In her role at the association, she established and manages the B.Y5 Gallery for Material Culture Research, produces the “1280\u00b0” journal, and initiates workshops, lectures, outdoor exhibitions, fairs, collaborations, and diverse projects both in Israel and internationally. She specializes in non-profit management and production, with prior experience in the commercial sector.<\/p>\n

    Yonat Chamaides | Artist, working primarily with clay. She has exhibited in Israel and abroad, including solo exhibitions. She is a former Chair of the Association and owns a studio in Herzliya. Previously, she practiced commercial law for over twenty years. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Yoela Sharon | Ceramic artist, lives and works in Tel Aviv. Co-founder of the “Shlush Shloshim” Gallery. Former Chairpperson of the Association. <\/span><\/p>\n

    He was a co-curator of the 2020 Biennale of Arts and Design and the curator of the Main Pavilion at the 2023 Biennale at the Eretz Israel Museum. He established and founded the following galleries: ‘Makom L’Omanut’ (Place for Art) in Kiryat HaMelacha, B.Y5 Gallery of the Association of Professional Artists, and ‘Gallery 2’ for contemporary art in Ein Hod. He curates for galleries and museums, serves as an art consultant for private collections, mentors creative processes, serves on award committees, and edits art books.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
